NSW Police Force issued me a $500 fine for alleged "Use Offensive Language."
The fine itself gives almost nothing. It does not state the actual words allegedly used. It does not identify a public place. It does not identify a school. It does not identify a civilian witness. It just lists "offensive language" at my private residential address. I was inside my private home, behind my own screen/security door.
I did not open the door to identify myself. I did not hand over a licence, card, document, or anything bearing my name or date of birth. Yet the fine was later mailed to me with my personal details that seem to have come from dispatch for previous times I've called the police (it only had the details dispatch asks for on the fine).
When I contested it, Revenue NSW accepted it was on private property with no witnesses, their excuse became "the whole street heard it." but not a single witness?
Inside my private home is not a public place. "The whole street heard it" does not magically turn my private residence into a public place or a school.
The officer would not have heard anything from my property if he had left when I told him: "Get off my property."
The legal definitions for this fine does not fit their excuse. This is not law enforcement. This is power-tripping police abuse.
